More on my pantyhose obsession
A perfectly beautiful look ruined by lack of attention to the legs. She needed some body makeup or, as some commentators noted, this is the reason to bring back pantyhose. Silky sheer stockings and closed toe pumps (note how her toes are sticking out) would have completed this look beautifully.
My quest for the perfect pantyhose is like my quest for the perfect foundation. Here’s my latest find:
For my light-toned legs, I chose Bare Bisque. 80% Nylon/20% Spandex control top panty: midway on the panty compression scale (light to firm). 85% Nylon/15% Spandex leg: the package very helpfully provides a leg sheerness scale from “very sheer” to “opaque.” These are sheer hosiery, although I wish that they would look like a second skin. I size up on pantyhose for comfort, and don’t sacrifice fit. I found that No nonsense Silk Indulgence were very comfortable – no gapping in the crotch.

What makes women in men’s hats with lots of leg look so sexy? I ask this after seeing Beauty Addict’s article Madonna Madness: May 2008, on three magazines that feature Madonna on the cover of the May 2008 issues.
Madonna is the latest incarnation of this archetype:

Iggy Pop for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame!

L to R: Iggy Pop, Madonna, and JT
I’ve long thought that Madonna should be inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame at her earliest opportunity (that is, 25 years after her first recording). She’s the best-selling female artist of all time, trailing only Elvis and The Beatles in sales. Her style has influenced countless others, most recently, Gwen Stefani.
Yesterday’s award ceremony shows that she’s still full of surprises. Take that dress, for example: it looks demure at first look, but it’s actually see-through (I also like her tousled waves). Then there was her decision not to perform: for that, Bill O’Reilly called her a “pinhead.” The surprise was having fellow Michigan native Iggy Pop (ne Jim Osterberg) perform her songs (he’s 60 – look how “ripped” he is).
If anyone’s been overlooked for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, it’s Iggy. He’s been called the Godfather of Punk, as he was into outrageous behavior (hurling himself into the audience, smearing peanut butter all over himself, and cutting himself) years before the heyday of punk. Iggy Pop ought to be inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, with past collaborator David Bowie inducting him.
Beyonce and the "Roboho" costume
What was missed in this whole shout-out was the similarity of Beyonce’s costume to that of the female robot in the 1927 film classic Metropolis.
Madonna riffed on Metropolis for her video Respect Yourself.
Guess Who …

Forty-four years after her death, Marilyn Monroe continues to inspire. Her sex kitten appeal (expressed by blonde hair, black eyeliner, and accentuated lashes) has shaped the look of entertainers from Nancy Sinatra to Deborah Harry (whose band Blondie was just inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame) to most famously, Madonna. However, this is an amazing transformation of one of the most famous models in the world. Who is portraying Marilyn?
Hint: She recently came out of a drug rehabilitation program after a picture of her allegedly snorting cocaine was emblazened on a cover of a British tabloid. Allegations of drug abuse led to the loss of several modeling contracts, but she’s never been absent from either advertising or editorial content.
