Gucci Westman, formerly creative director for both Lancôme and Revlon, has launched her own #cleanbeauty line Westman Atelier.
Below she demonstrates how to do a dimensional (read contouring and highlighting) face using three shades of her Vital Skin Foundation Stick ($68.00 a piece!). She blends ATELIER I (Fair, with neutral undertone) and ATELIER II (Medium fair, warm beige undertone) to create an under eye concealer.
The video runs five minutes. Gucci said that she could do the makeup in two minutes if she weren’t talking and demonstrating her makeup application. Yeah, sure. Easy when you’re a pro like her.
This book gives the lie to the idea that weight gain depends on calories in/calories out. Rather, insulin or insulin resistance is responsible for weight gain.
I’m pre-diabetic, and The Obesity Code has inspired me to cut back on sugars. Also, it’s not only a matter of what you eat, but also how frequently you eat. Fung endorses intermittent fasting.
Blue Bottle will ban cash at twelve locations across the USA as part of a month-long experiment that aims to speed up purchases. Two participating stores are in San Francisco.
Is banning cash a ploy to exclude people unable to obtain credit cards or other electronic payment methods?
“For a lot of low-income San Franciscans, credit cards or other phone-based mobile payments aren’t an option,” said San Francisco Supervisor Vallie Brown.
I’m inclined to think that banning cash is a ploy to discourage the poor and homeless from entering their stores.
There were many different takes on this tweet. I prefer to pay cash for purchases under twenty dollars, as paying cash and accepting change is a tangible way to gauge how I spend my money. If I get a five-dollar bill, I just sock it away.

The Unicode Consortium has approved a #PeriodEmoji to “de-stigmatize” menstruation.
#PeriodEmoji
I’m not commenting on de-stigmatizing menstruation, I’m speaking here as someone who has worked in standardization. Unicode Consortium has done outstanding work in machine coding of scripts for both modern and historical languages. Approving emojis is beneath its exalted mission. Time to spin off this activity into a new consortium: The Universal Emoji Consortium? Hell, create a whole new ISO infrastructure!
