Famed MUA Lisa Eldridge to launch three limited edition red lipsticks

Lisa Eldridge is a British makeup artist who had served as creative director for Lancôme. As you can see from the photo below, she’s her own best model.

Now comes the exciting news that she’s launching three velvet lipsticks on November 19.  The lipsticks are various shades of red.  According to Get The Gloss:

There’s Velvet Morning, a Berocca orange-red that’ll wake you up in every sense, Velvet Jazz, a brick red, and Velvet Ribbon, a filmstarry blue-red.

The lipsticks cost £26 (around USD 33.43) each.   The three lipstick set (including velvet bag) costs £75.00(around USD 96.43).  Pre-orders will start shipping on November 22.

One frequent criticism of BB/CC/DD creams is that they come in too few shades.  For foundation, I switch between It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ and Hourglass Cosmetics Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick.  I was pleased to learn that It Cosmetics expanded its shade range for Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+.  The six shades are: Fair, Light, Medium, Medium Dark, Dark, and Deep.

Revlon to launch Flesh makeup at Ulta

On Instagram, he adds:

In addition to foundation sticks, Flesh will include highlighters, lipstick, and blush — all created to complement a wide range of skin tones.
Flesh will be available online at Ulta Beauty beginning June 24th, and will be on store shelves in July.

Comments:

  • Will Flesh have staying power?  I’m thinking in particular about the stunning failure of Vital Radiance, a line that Revlon created for women over 50.
  • In the 1990s, Revlon had a line targeted at African-American women: I couldn’t find the name of the line (likewise, I couldn’t find the name of the line for which 1980s teen pop star Tiffany was a model).
  • I’m of two minds when it comes to Linda Wells.
    • Con: As EIC of Allure, she ostensibly approved a hatchet job on Paula Begoun. Wow – talk about duplicity.  The reporter ingratiated herself with Paula.
    • Pro: Allure was apolitical when she was EIC.

Idiot’s Guides: Everyday Makeup Secrets devotes too much space on faking the perfect face shape (oval, with evenly proportioned features) and perfect eye shape (almond) through highlighting and contouring. It also recommends eyebrow shapes for different face shapes: I would think that the best approach is to follow the natural shape of the brow bone.

The best parts of Idiot’s Guide: Everyday Makeup Secrets are the call-out boxes, which feature many interesting hacks.
